Curved Segments

Since version 1.2.3 LSS Arch provides ability to specify segment type of an 'arch' object's contour and/or profile line (if any). This feature allows to model objects of a curved shape faster. It is possible to pick any previously created 'arch' object and then make any segment of its contour curved.

Steps to Create a Curved Segment

  1. open tool dialog, which corresponds to an object to be edited
  2. pick existing 'arch' object
  3. right-click while hovering over a middle grip (small triangle at the middle of a contour segment) in order to pop-up a context menu
  4. choose desired segment type from a 'Segment Type' sub-menu: linear, arc, curve
  5. click 'Apply' button of a tool dialog in order to commit changes

Curvature Adjustment

Extension initially calculates curvature of a curved segment automatically. It is possible to re-adjust curvature by moving appropriate adjustment points marked by cross sign. 'Arc' segment type has only one adjustment point, which defines arc curvature. 'Curve' segment type has two adjustment points: first at its start, second at its end.
It is also possible to get rid of any curvature by switching back to linear segment type.

Adjustment of Segment Steps Count

Segment steps count is another parameter, which affects curved segment geometry. This parameter defines how 'smooth' (in geometrical sense) curved segment should be. The more steps count, the smoother the curved segment.
First of all it is possible to set appropriate value within 'Settings' dialog. Value specified within 'Settings' dialog becomes default one for each newly created object. It is also possible to re-adjust this parameter for any previously created object individually using 'Properties' dialog (i.e. override default setting).

'Divided' Segment Type

Version 1.3.0 introduces new segment type. This segment type is just like default 'linear' segment type, but divided into equal small segments. This type of a segment may be useful for contour or beam objects, in case if some sub-objects are attached. Another situation when this segment type may be useful is when generation of side surface of contour object is enabled and 'stick down' option is set to true. In this case 'divided' segment type provides sticking of all intermediate points to a down-lying surface.
